What is Access to Work support?

Access to Work is a UK government scheme that provides funding for workplace support for employees with a disability or mental health condition.

Support can include:

  • Job coaching and workplace coaching
  • Coping strategy training
  • Mental health support
  • Workplace adjustments

This funding helps employees stay in work and perform effectively without placing full cost on employers.

Who is Eligible?

Employees may be eligible if they:

  • Are in work or starting work within 12 weeks
  • Have a mental health condition or disability affecting their work

Employees do not need a formal diagnosis to access mental health support.

.

How Access to Work works

The Access to Work process typically follows four steps:

  1. Apply via the government website
  2. Speak with an Access to Work advisor
  3. Receive a decision and funding allocation
  4. Select a provider such as UMO

We can support employees and employers at each stage of this process.
