🧭 Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) Application Flowchart
A step-by-step guide to getting support for your mental health, neurodiversity or disability while you study
Step 1: Check Eligibility
- Have a disability under the Equality Act 2010
- Condition must last 12+ months and affect your studies

Step 2: Apply for DSA
- Apply online or by post via Student Finance England
- Tick the box to apply for DSA
- You don’t need to apply for full student finance

Step 3: Submit Medical Evidence
- Upload an EHCP, GP letter or diagnostic report
- If needed, complete the DSA Disability Evidence Form
- Ask your doctor or mental health practitioner to complete the form

Step 4: Book Your Needs Assessment
- Once approved, book an in-person or remote assessment
- The 2-hour session is covered by DSA
- Assessors will help you identify the right support

Step 5: Receive Your DSA2 Letter
- Your DSA2 letter lists your approved support
- This includes mentoring, software or equipment
- You must contact providers to activate support
