What is UMO's Chinese & Korean Language Mentoring?

UMO’s Specialist Mentoring for Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean Speaking Students provides the opportunity for Chinese or Korean students to gain insight into the identified issues impacting wellbeing and studies whilst studying at university in the UK.

Working with a specialist, students are able to face obstacles and develop strategies that are blocking studies, as well as find a safe space to explore the challenges of being an international student.

Chinese and Korean speaking mentors are able to understand the experience of being a student at a UK university – loneliness, cultural differences, academic teaching, learning styles and feeling homesick are amongst the themes discussed in sessions.

What Do These Specialised Mentoring Sessions Involve?

The Mentor helps the Student develop new strategies and break through barriers unlock talent, build confidence, and tackle challenges.

Regular (weekly or fortnightly) one on one support sessions for 50 mins. Meet with a Mentor who understands the struggles of studying in the UK university culture
